Stretching across 900 miles of wild Alaskan coastline,
emerald green Kodiak is the second largest island in
the U.S. and is surrounded by a vast archipelago. Our
sail will cover a complex circuit of narrow fjords,
islands and sea stack bays, rocky headlands and hidden
alcoves of the rugged Alaska Peninsula. Not
a route taken by big tour groups, our remote, hand-charted
course traverses Kodiak, Afognak and Shuyak islands
as well as the 4.7 million acre Katmai National Park.
Following the Katmai coastline, one of the most spectacular
and ecologically diverse areas in Alaska, expect to
run through rolls of film. This is home to the largest
brown bear concentration in the world and its waters
support among the richest marine life in the Pacific.
We'll have the rare opportunity to observe wildlife
in their natural habitat. We'll ply the waters accompanied
by humpbacks, orcas, dall porpoises and seals. Fantastic
bird life is also plentiful. The Kirsten Anne's nimble
handling and the skipper's keen knowledge will allow
us to respond to unanticipated delights, so the trip's
route is a sample. This is your chance to experience
spectacular wilderness in a way that few ever have.
