First, we travel south to Lake General Carrera, the Mediterranean of South America. Encircled by sharp-peaked mountains, the lake sits in the midst of the earth's most dramatic topography. To the West is the famous "Campos de Hielos Norte," the world's closest ice field to the Equator, and to the South is Rio Baker where Mount San Lorenzo rises to over 12,200 feet.
